Bayer Leverkusen forward Nathan Tella has withdrawn from the Super Eagles squad ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month.
Tella was named in the final 23-man squad announced on Tuesday for the crucial fixtures. However, he remained on the bench as Bayer Leverkusen suffered a 0-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16 clash on Tuesday, March 11.
It has now been confirmed that the 25-year-old is injured and will miss Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures.
In response to Tella’s injury, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has called up Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha as a replacement.
