A Nigerian man has been sentenced to three months imprisonment after he was caught dumping refuse on the Lekki-Epe expressway.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared a video showing the moment the man was caught with his vehicle filled with grass and illegally dumping them by the roadside.
In a post shared on X on Monday, Wahab stated that the driver has been arrested, the vehicle seized, and that he will be arraigned in court immediately. He issued a stern warning stating that the state will not tolerate acts that endanger our environment and public health. Enforcement is active, and violators will be held fully accountable.
In an update shared this afternoon, Wahab said the accused was arraigned before the Magistrate Court sitting at Oshodi, found guilty and sentenced to 3 months in prison.
