The Federal Government (FG) has announced Friday, April 18th, and Monday, April 21st, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday. According to a press statement from Dr Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration in a press statement, extending heartfelt congratulations to Christians nationwide.
While declaring that April 18th (Good Friday) and April 21st (Easter Monday) will be observed as public holidays, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of emulating Jesus Christ’s virtues of sacrifice, love, and forgiveness. He therefore urged Nigerians to use the holiday to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo reassured citizens of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at fostering national growth and development. He encouraged Nigerians to extend love and goodwill to their neighbors through acts of kindness and generosity, aligning with the administration’s agenda.
The Minister however wished all Christians a blissful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians. He emphasized the significance of Easter in promoting values of love, forgiveness, and compassion, essential for social cohesion and harmony.
