Nigerians in Libya have kicked against the arrest of a Nigerian woman accused of kidnapping her employer’s maid in Tripoli.
Libya Observer reported on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, that the Nigerian woman, who works as a housemaid, was arrested by the police in Tripoli’s Ain Zara district for abducting the child.
However, Nigerians took to the comment section to debunk the allegation, saying that it’s a set-up and there must be more to the report.
Others insinuated that it’s a ploy to avoid paying her salary.
A few even claimed that the child belonged to the Nigerian girl.
“Ramadan is almost over so it’s time to pay salaries so, they’re now framing ugly stories making their shagalas look bad, they go far as imprisoning them just because they don’t want to pay them! Osim kidnap,” one Nonye Smart wrote.
