Tragedy struck in Southern Kaduna on Sunday as a lightning bolt killed a young herder and 12 cows in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, confirmed the shocking incident on Monday, explaining that the herder had sought shelter from the rain alongside his cattle when the lightning struck, killing them instantly.
“The herder, along with 12 cows, died on the spot. It was a tragic occurrence that has left the community in shock,” Ayuba stated.
Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, the Ardo of Bondon District, also confirmed the unfortunate event, revealing that the deceased herder was originally from Bauchi State.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Tanko called for prayers and support for the bereaved family, adding that the young man had been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
The unexpected tragedy has left residents in mourning, with many describing it as an unfortunate act of nature.
