Bill To Create “Office Of Prime Minister As Head Of Govt” Passes Second Reading

A Constitution Amendment Bill seeking to return the Country to a Parliamentary System of Government has passed a second reading at the House of Representatives.

The Minority Leader and Reps member representing Obio-Akpor Federal Constituency, Kingsley Ogundu Chinda (PDP – Rivers) & 59 others in their proposed bill advocate the Office of Prime Minister as Head of Government.

“A Bill for An Act to alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to provide for the Office of Prime Minister as Head of Government and the Office of the President as Head of State and to provide for a framework the the mode of election to the said offices and for Related Matters (HB. 1115).”
