Nigerian Troops Capture Notorious Kidnappers, Terrorists In Plateau State

Security forces from the 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven have arrested two notorious kidnappers and terrorists in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State during a coordinated sting operation.

The operation, codenamed Operation Golden Peace, took place on February 24 at 2:20 p.m. in Lugere Sho, Barkin Ladi, following intelligence from a suspect arrested on February 22.

The arrest followed a sting operation based on intelligence reports.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, disclosed this on Wednesday in a post on his X handle.

According to the report, intelligence sources told Makama that the operation, codenamed Operation Golden Peace, was conducted on February 24 at about 2:20 p.m. in Lugere Sho, Barkin Ladi.

The security expert disclosed that the raid was carried out after actionable intelligence was obtained from a previously arrested suspect on February 22.

Additionally, troops apprehended another high-profile kidnapper and terrorist in Kwok Village, Barkin Ladi LGA. The suspect, now in military custody, has confessed to involvement in multiple kidnappings across Plateau and Nasarawa States.

During interrogation, one detainee admitted to sustaining gunshot wounds in a prior clash with security forces. The arrested individuals have also revealed the identities and hideouts of accomplices still active in Barkin Ladi LGA.

Troops are now carrying out follow-up operations to track and capture the remaining members of the criminal network.
