Operatives from the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have apprehended a 28-year-old ex-convict identified as Faremi Ojo for stabbing his brother and threatening to kill his family members at Ilupeju-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area (LGA), Ekiti.
Abiodun Adeleye, the Head of Communications of the Ekiti Amotekun Corps, revealed via a statement that the culprit was arrested on Monday, February 17, 2025,
He noted that one of the brothers of the culprit filed a complaint to them, which led to the swift arrest of Ojo.
Adeleye stated that the complainant reported that since Ojo was released from prison, where he had served a sentence for involvement in human part trafficking for ritual purposes, he had been threatening both his family and the community.
The statement read, “The complainant reported that upon his return, the suspect began terrorising his family and the community.
“He allegedly strangled their father, broke into his brother’s house, stabbed him in the head with a screwdriver after multiple threats, and attempted to kill other family members before fleeing.”
Eyewitnesses also stated that Ojo had been spreading fear among the community, often carrying cutlasses, incantation horns popularly known as ‘afose,’ a cane, a knife and other dangerous items believed to be enhanced with charms.
Adeleye mentioned that Amotekun officers quickly acted on the complaint, apprehending the suspect and taking him to the Amotekun Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti for further investigation.
Adding that, “During interrogation, the suspect claimed his actions were triggered by his family’s refusal to provide financial support for his freedom ceremony at work.”
He finally stated that the suspect, along with the seized weapons, had been transferred to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Ekiti State Police Command for further investigation and appropriate action.
