Cross River Governorship candidate escapes ‘snake attack’ days after assassination attempt

The Cross River State governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Usani Usani, on Thursday, escaped a snake attack at his country home in the Mkpani community of Yakurr Local Government Area.

Recall that Usani, a former minister of Niger Delta Affairs, earlier escaped an assassination attempt on the Calabar-Ikom Federal Highway on his way to his hometown.

Two people were shot dead and three others abducted in the attack which occurred last week.

The spokesperson of the governorship candidate, David Agabi, who confirmed the latest incident to Punch, said his boss was attacked while he was taking a walk around his country home at noon.

The governorship candidate was in his Mkpani community in Yakurr LGA and was going out of his house. He almost stepped on the snake but missed it. People came and killed it, he said.

This is one too many. People are on a mission to take Usani life, after a failed assassination attempt; now they sent a snake, he added.
